The Gift Of Giving Hope

Hello Everyone,

This blog is a bit personal for me because it's concerning something that I am very passionate about....Youth & Art Education.  For those who do not know I currently work with an organization called Art Share Los Angeles and we provide free art classes both visual and performance to youth 13-24.  In the last 9 months Art Share along with many other organziations have lost funding due to the economic crisis that has been hitting across America.

But despite this crises Art Share has been diligently servicing the youth of LA.  Each individual student has crossed so many bridges to get to a point of encouragment, love and acceptance.  They've battled depression, the loss of thier homes and friends and have all found within themselves that special spark that makes them who they are...and ALL here at Art Share Los Angeles.

I thank God everyday for allowing me to mentor and experience their lives and their growth on a daily basis and I pray that the platform that God has given me to simply know all of those that read this blog can be used to ask for your help in reaching and supporting the programs that change the lives of my students.

Christmas is a time of love, family, friends and giving.  We don't give because it's tradition, we don't give because we're told to.  If we all were to look beyond the surface we would find that the reason we give during this time is becuase in some small way it brings joy to your heart to know that something that comes from you can put a smile on someone else's face and put a little bit of hope in their hearts.
I'm asking for your help, if you and anyone you may know can find it in your hearts to give to a charitbale cause I'm asking that you choose to give to Art Share Los Angeles.

Give to an organization that is working everyday to change the lives of these youth that are often forgotten and misplaced.  $5, $10, $100...WHATEVER you can afford or feel led to give I'm asking that you give it and help myself and the organziation put a smile on the faces of our students and hope in their hearts during this Holiday Season.

In Deep Thought

I know I normally reserve the Jaye Spot for entertainment and for updating you guys on whats happening with my career.  However, I thought that I would take a moment and address the more serious side of reality.

How many of us have doubted that who we thought we were meant to become is now just a memory in reverse from who we have chosen to be?  So many people in the industry are searching for identity, searching for a character, someone to be.  We give entertainers times in our lives that for most of us we should be spending on something else.  I am a firm believer that God has purpose for our lives, our gifts, our talents and yes even our failures; but it is only when we align ourselves with HIS vision and HIS will that we ever find out what that purpose actually is.

I challange my readers today to take a moment at some point in your busy schedule today and ask yourself: What Have I Done To Ensure That I Become The Person I Was Born To Be?

Keep God first and remember always that you are never alone.

I'm Danyol Jaye with The Jaye Spot, Till next blog.

Phi'LA The Musical At The Nokia

So folks I'm sitting here in the dressing room of the Club Nokia and I'm feeling so blessed and inspired.  As we are going through the numbers and realizing minute by minute that Monday is closer than we know.

When asking 2 of the leads of Phi'LA The Musical, Godwin Thurton & Walter Catalan who play 2 battling gangters trying to protect their hood and their ethnic background, about their feelings of being here they had this to say:

Danyol: So Godwin how are you feeling knowing that you're opening at the Club Nokia?
Godwin: I'm ecstatic, excited and grateful.
Danyol: What are you grateful for specifically?
Godwin: For being a part of something that can help change our community.
Danyol: What is the one thing you want people to walk away from this play with?
Godwin: To know that there are issue in Los Angeles that need to be dealt with.

Danyol: What's the most exciting thing about being a part of Phi'LA The Musical?
Walter: One exciting thing is being around people that come from different places and getting to know them. Also the rush of being on the stage.
Danyol: Where do you want this play to go?
Walter: I want it to reach everybody that still have it in their mind that there's racial tension in their community.  All the urban neighborhoods that live this everyday.
Danyol: What do you want people to take from this play when they leave?
Walter: That all this racial tension is stupid and that it needs to stop before more people die.

Opening Monday, October 12th, 2009 at  8pm at the Club Nokia, those who don't take the opportunity to come see this musical will be missing an enormous part of Los Angeles history.  Filled with love, tension, social issues and positive change Phi'LA The Musical is the beginning of a new rising phenomenon.

Phi'LA The Musical @ The Club Nokia

VERY exciting news here at The Jaye Spot!!!!  For those of you who do not know, for the past month I have been part of a musical project called Phi'LA The Musical.  It is an urban story of the black and brown issues in LA.  When an African American teen boy falls in love with a Latin teen girl, tensions rise between friends, families and each other.  A little "Romeo & Juliet" and a little "West Side Story" Phi'LA The Musical is on the RISE!!!!

October 12th this musical, which I just so happen to be the assistant choreographer for, as well as one of the ensemble cast members and understudy, is hitting the world renknown Club Nokia Theatre.  I'm asking that all of you support this musical, support this message and DEFINATELY support the teens that are working on this project.  These youth are some of the most professional actors, singers and dancers that I've worked with in my career thus far.

Show Dates are as follows:

Reality TV....

Never in my days did I ever think I would be doing reality TV....but here I am finishing up a pilot teaser for just that A REALITY TV SHOW!!!!! lol

The show I've been working on for the last year is called "The Lyricist".  It's an "America's Next Top Model" style reality show based on the premis of multiple songwriters living in the same house and being challenged week after week on their songwriting abilities.  Each week their visited by a celeb guest who will perform the song that each contestant has written.

Add a $100,000 Publishing contract, the chance to write the shows theme song for the next season and the opportunity to be placed with a grammy award winning artist and you've got your self a hit!!!!!!

It amazes me how reality TV works from the inside out.  I can't reveal too much of the show because you'll just have to watch and tune in, but what I can say is that I am truly honored to have been part of the process!!!!

stay tuned for more of Danyol Jaye Updates
