Does Unemployment Make You Lazy?

Hey Jayescribers!!!!  Hope all of you are doing well.  I'm here talking about the new Unemployment Bill that President Obama just signed today after the Senate passed it on Wednesday and the House passing it on Thursday.  Republicans say that the extension causes Americans to be lazier than before and that it adds to America's current $34 Billion National Debt.  Obama Says that people NEED unemployment because they are diligently looking for work and that America is NOT lazy that they are just on bad times as they can not find a job in these hard economic times.

Obama uses everyday Americans as examples to his point of the need of this extension.  I've provided the video of the speech to Republicans after President Obama's meeting about the bill.  What do you guys think?

Too Big Too Soon

Hello my Jayescribers!!!!!!!!!!  Do you think that the celebs of today are beginning to get too big too quick?  TMZ sources says that the cast of Jersey Shore is holding off on shooting Season 3 because they want to discuss a revised contract increasing their pay, claiming they believe they can get more money doing special appearances for a few months rather than shoot the third season of this narcissistic series full of hormonal young adults chasing after the same 2nd rate tail.

All I have to say is, WHO ARE THEY??  You'd think they were the original 90210 cast or something.   Hey Jersey!!!!  My advice?  Stick to what you got before you start demanding more things.  You're lucky to have made it to a Season 3!!!!!!!!!!!

25- Too Young To Be Old, Too Old To Be Young...

HELLO JAYESCRIBERS!!!!!!!!!!!  Amid all this heat I truly hope that everyone is staying cool and trying their best to not sweat out of their birthday suits.  God knows most of us are sweating into them lol.  I wanna talk about being 25.  I recently turned 25 in April and I know that many of my older readers (35+) are looking at this like "25?  Are you serious?" but I truly think that this is a very pivotal age in a young persons life.  Especially a person in the industry not yet "discovered" or publicly marketed.

As many of you know I'm a singer who acts and writes but my career is no where near the dream I had at 2 years old.  The talented 7 year old boy with the curly hair, flashy smile, slim look and knack for mimicking people is no more.  He's been replaced by a not so slim, more mature young man.  So this is for my fellow twenty-neers.  Is 25 to old to "start" becoming successful in the business?  Or is it to young to even think about right now?

I find that a lot of times people are always looking for the new thing, the youngest, new, fresh and talented (or not so talented) person to capitalize on (i.e. Justin Beiber, Care Bears On Fire, Sean Kingston & Keke Palmer).  Or their taking chances on those that have had luxurious careers thus far (Vivca A. Fox, Jamie Foxx, Brad Pitt & Raven-Symone)  But what do you do when you feel like you have paid many a dues and you still haven't taken off the way you would like to?

As I said before I just turned 25 in April and I kind of feel like I'm no longer the kid with the big voice.  No one is knocking on my door to work with me and quite frankly its getting harder and harder to push myself toward the mark.  If it wasn't for the desire to really believe in my dream I probably would have stopped singing long ago.  So, what are your thoughts on the matter?  Leave your comments and opinions.  would love to hear what you think.

I Love You...But Do I Really Love Your Mess?

April has brought the showers, the earthquakes and definately has brought the epiphanies lol.  What's up JayeScribers!!!!!  I know that it's been MORE than a minute, but I'm here and I'm breathing, walking and talking like a brand new ME!!!

Topic for the day:  Does Loving Someone Automatically Mean Loving Their Mess?

Now because I know my followers, some of you are probably looking at that and saying HEEELLLL NO!!!!!  However, lets really look into this problem shall we?  How many of us have been in relationships (and yes I'm speaking romantically folks) ONLY to look back and say to ourselves, "Why did I deal with that?"  I think that people are so caught up in giving up on the fantasies that they've created as children that when they find someone who has one or two good qualities they enjoy that they rush into relationship and settle thinking they can just go with the flow with the rest of the stuff that isn't right for them.

We are so quick to look at someone in an abusive relationship and say how dumb the person is, but have you ever stopped to realize that they might actually love their partner?  That they are in love so much that they feel the need or obligation to also deal with and settle for the mess?

Well I have!!!  And this is what I have to say about it:  Loving someone means that you are truthful about what IS and ISN'T healthy.  It is very possible to love someone and not agree with their actions.  It is also very possible to love someone and say "you know I really love you, but I can't deal with your mess".

If I could find the person who coined the phrase that "real love hurts" I'd strangle them and leave them to be eaten by a thousand dessert scorpians.  LOVE DOES NOT HURT!!!!  PEOPLE HURT!!!!!  Love is all the warm and fuzzy feelings you think it is, it's the thing that causes you to be patient when someone starts to piss you off.  It is that honesty that should transcend all lies.  It is that and so much more but the one thing I DO know is that love is NOT hurt!!!!

If you are in a relationship and you are questioning whether or not to stay, here's my advice: get a piece of paper and write down ALL the things that the relationship does for you in a healthy manner and then write down ALL the things that destroy you in that relationship.  Whichever one is longer let your decision come from that.

I love you guys for your support, there will be more blogging  to come as I prepare for my summer tour with Phi'LA The Musical.  I will also keep you updated on my new album that I'm working on....

Dealing With People

Hello JayeScribers WHAT'S UP!!!!

I've missed all of you so much and it's been such a crazy, crazy last few weeks.  Anyway, I've been noticing for the last few weeks how difficult it is to deal with different types of people!!!!!

You have those people who are sooo agressive that you tend to NOT want to be around them because they're generally portraying a selfish nature and always demanding or delegating something.  Kind of like being on some Diva Trip that is lasting WAAAAAAY to long.  These are generally the people you just want to bury 8 feet under.  Yes I said it 8!!!  Not 6, but 8....

Then you have those who are super passive and allow people to walk all over them.  Constantly exusing themselves or apologizing, even when they've done nothing wrong, simply to keep from having a conflict.  These are they people that you just want to shake up and scream at them and say "GET A BACK BONE!!!!  GROW A PAIR!!!!"   But you realize you can't because they'll probably cry for the next 4 days.

Now we come to my personal "favorite" =-x......THE PASSIVE AGRESSIVE PERSON!!!!!
I just don't get it....this is the person that will be mad at you and instead of speaking their mind will sit in silence and just let it fester.  All of the indirect contact, going through other people and all that kind of nonsence.  Makes you want to choke them all the more....

Anywho tell me what your thoughts are by dropping a comment or two and tell me what type of person you think you are...

Being Honored.....But Still Humbled

It is always a humbling experience when you find that the very things that fuel your passion are things that people wish to acknowledge and support as well as honor.  I have been working with youth and non profits since the age of 14.  I am 24 (soon to be 25) and in 10 years I've had the amazing priviledge to see some of the most amazing youth grow and develop their talents in the arts.

Art Share Los Angeles has been on of those places that will forever be etched into my heart and has become a staple in the legacy that I wish to leave behind when I leave this world.  Studenst like David, Robert, Enrique, Rocio, Jennifer, Gaby, Evelyn, Rene & Abel, just to name a few, are the reasons why I do what I do.

Every so often you are blessed by someone else that wishes to
acknowledge your work.  The Life Through Arts Foundation wishes to do just that.  During their 6th annual Red Party Fundraiser, they will be Honoring Me for my contribution to Art Education and Youth Involvement.  Tickets are $75 and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see some familiar faces as I except this award.  For more Info & to purchase Tickets please visit http://www.ltaf.org/

Although I am recieving this award, I accept it on behalf of ALL my students, because without them this award wouldn't be possible.

In addition to all of this I will be a featured artist during Art Share LA's Valentine's Day Fundraiser.  Tony White & The Tony White Quartet will be spreading the rhythms of Jazz and romance and they will be featuring me to help spread the love.

Tickets are $20 w/RSVP and $25 @ the door.  For more information on this event please visit http://www.artsharela.org/

Once again I thank you ALL for your continued support!!!!!

The Gift Of Giving Hope

Hello Everyone,

This blog is a bit personal for me because it's concerning something that I am very passionate about....Youth & Art Education.  For those who do not know I currently work with an organization called Art Share Los Angeles and we provide free art classes both visual and performance to youth 13-24.  In the last 9 months Art Share along with many other organziations have lost funding due to the economic crisis that has been hitting across America.

But despite this crises Art Share has been diligently servicing the youth of LA.  Each individual student has crossed so many bridges to get to a point of encouragment, love and acceptance.  They've battled depression, the loss of thier homes and friends and have all found within themselves that special spark that makes them who they are...and ALL here at Art Share Los Angeles.

I thank God everyday for allowing me to mentor and experience their lives and their growth on a daily basis and I pray that the platform that God has given me to simply know all of those that read this blog can be used to ask for your help in reaching and supporting the programs that change the lives of my students.

Christmas is a time of love, family, friends and giving.  We don't give because it's tradition, we don't give because we're told to.  If we all were to look beyond the surface we would find that the reason we give during this time is becuase in some small way it brings joy to your heart to know that something that comes from you can put a smile on someone else's face and put a little bit of hope in their hearts.
I'm asking for your help, if you and anyone you may know can find it in your hearts to give to a charitbale cause I'm asking that you choose to give to Art Share Los Angeles.

Give to an organization that is working everyday to change the lives of these youth that are often forgotten and misplaced.  $5, $10, $100...WHATEVER you can afford or feel led to give I'm asking that you give it and help myself and the organziation put a smile on the faces of our students and hope in their hearts during this Holiday Season.
